01683If you are a backpacker and you find yourself in Isla Margarita. DON`t waist your money in Porlamar. Resorts only. Isla Margarita is not actually backpacker friendly but once there, stay in Juangriego. It is the most "backpacking" oriented part of the island. Suggestion. Hotel Patrick. It is a hostel close to a siimple nightlife and decent bar in the front steps.

01683in order to save money in Margarita Island, avoid taxis. And take what venezuelans call "por puestos". They leave a place when full. it can take some more time but it is a LOT cheaper way rather those expensive taxis ride in the island. Your wallet will say a big thank-you later.
