Sa Pa, North Vietnam-West, Vietnam
It's a bit touristy in Sapa these days, but its still a good place to base yourself for a few days. Explore some of the nearby villages, hire a moped for a few dollars a day and drive up into the mountain passes. You also get some stunning views of Fansipan (the highest peak in Indochina) if the weather is good.

Ha Noi, North Vietnam, Vietnam
this is my favourite city. more cultural and the weather is perhaps cooler compared to the south. enjoy walking around the old quarter where u can appreciate the french influenced architecture. try spending a day walking around the city sampling the different foods from the many vendors. hint go to the cathedral and a couple of shops down there is a dumpling shop. this shop is run by an old man and he makes the best dumpling on earth. funny enough he was reluctant to accept my tip!.

Phu Quoc, Mekong Delta, Vietnam
Phu Quoc is a special island: if you travel around May to August, then the western coast of the island tends to be stormy and wet, but coasts such as Bai Kem or An Thoi enjoy beautiful weather. If you travel around November, December to Spring, then the western coast is the best place to go.

What to do: Enjoy the pristine beach, trekking and swimming in Suoi Da Creek. Rent a boat at An Thoi and head to Hon Mong Tay or Hon Dam Ngoai for your own private beach! Visit the pearl farm, Fish sauce plant and pepper plantations (Vietnam is the world's largest exporter of pepper and a good number of it comes from Phu Quoc!). Try the "Co bien mai", a specialty mollusk dish. Go cuttlefish fishing, visit Duong Dong fish market, Phu Quoc prison or just lazily boosting your vitamin D dose in the resort.
