The West Bank is part of the Palestinian Territories – a landlocked region bordering Israel and Jordan. It has been heavily affected by turmoil, but contains many excellent historical sites, including several which have played a major role in Biblical history. Bethlehem is known as the birthplace of Jesus and contains the Church of the Nativity, which is located over Jesus’s supposed birth site and was originally built in 325. Set against the mountains, Nablus is the largest town in the West Bank and contains a number of historical sites such as Jacob’s Well and Joseph’s Tomb, as well as the private Touqan Castle and the minaret of the An-Nasir Mosque. Ramallah is known as the capital of the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat’s final headquarters. Jericho is perhaps the world’s oldest continually occupied settlement and contains the archaeological sites of Old Jericho and Hisham’s Palace.

Travel Tips from people who've been to West Bank
Amazing city full of really friendly and welcoming people. I instantly feel at home in the West Bank because the people are so so friendly. If you are heading to Nablus then you will have to go through one of the many checkpoints that completely enclose the city.  Keep your passport and visa stamp with you at all times. Women make sure you wear long sleeves and floor length trousers or skirt. Men, do not wear shorts. There is a lot to see, I suggest a trip to the refugee camp. The Old City is beautiful and has castle ruins, old factories, narrow streets, spice shops etc. One thing that you'll notice immediately is the posters of martyrs and children who have been killed. There are also bullet holes in nearly every wall. Don't be out and about in the city after dark as nearly every night the Israeli army come (illegally) into the city. If you leave the city through the Huwarra check point then there is a separate line for foreigners, women and elderly people. If you don't have a ride waiting for you at the other side then hop in a service (shared taxi) - they go everywhere in the West Bank (15 NIS to Ramallah) so when you come out just shout where you want to go!

Ariha, or Jericho in English is a palestinian city of the West Bank that dates back millenia in the past and is often considered as the oldest city on Earth. It is situated below the sea level at the north of the Dead Sea depression. It is a nice city where it can be very hot in summer with temperature above 45°C. There are 3 famous places to visit in the vicinity of Jericho: the palace of Hisham, the Tel Jericho site (site of the old Jericho) and the Monastery of temptation. Keep in mind that Jericho is in a trouble location of the world and you should take great care in going there. It remains one of the safest places of the West Bank; however, situation can change very fast and I would not recommend visiting those places without either a excellent knowledge of the region and its context or local contacts that will guide you.

Wanna see what really happens behind all the beautiful words of the israelis? This is the place to visit. The settlers (400 ppl) among the almost 100 000 palestinians is just scary. They can be aggressive (yes, I do have a picture of a boy trying to hit one of the girls joining us on our tour there), but nobody cares, cause the soldiers protect them. There are almost 5 soldiers in each settler, 'cause the only people they protect are the 'israelis', or settlers as i would like to call them.
The city itself is beautiful, and the palestinians living there are all very friendly. They will help you around.
Al Khalil is arabic for Hebron, if someone missed that part.
