Free stuff:
Breakfast*, coffee and tea, sheets, WI-FI connection, popcorn (just in case you get a craving while watching a movie), kitchen with a microwave, fridge, etc (you can cook, really!), lockers (bring your padlock or buy one here), a really amazing view of the Christ from our veranda, travel information, pool table and great , really great conversation.
*breakfast starts at 7:00 (during Carnival much earlier woohoo!), not 9:30 like many others, so you can get an early start on your day!

Security:
Well, it's easier to break out of some prisons in Brazil than it is for a stranger to get into the hostel: Just check our security ratings!
We have a person at the front desk 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We have security cameras and two locking doors on the way in. It might seem like a bit much, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Because of this our hostel is perfect for girls traveling alone, but guys are very welcome here also: Mainly the handsome ones.
Price:
We have excellent prices on dorms, single rooms or double rooms. We are the most popular hostel in Rio de Janeiro! Do not be afraid to book a bed in the large dorm: It's a quiet and spacious room on the 2nd floor with plenty of toilets and showers. No worries!
We also have better prices for groups of 20+ people: Ask about our discounts!
Comfort:
We have 17 showers and 70 beds!!! Need to take a shower? Now worries! No waiting. All private rooms and the majority of the dorms (except the budget ones) have air conditioning (highly recommended during summer!).
We use 2 tier bunk-beds instead of 3 (common in many places in RIo) with very good mattresses. The sheets are clean and fresh. You will be in a comfortable, clean, well located, and safe hostel with a fantastic staff.
Our promise to you: If you book a certain room you get it, or if for some reason we don't have it, we'll give you an upgrade for free!
Cleanliness:
What is a good hostel without housekeeping? The rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily!
Cheap means dirty? Of course not!!! Fleas, cockroaches, mites, bed bugs and ants? No, thanks! We work with the best company in Rio that fumigates the place monthly. We guarantee you won't have trouble with insects or bugs here even though this winter (in Brazil of course!) has been hot!
Location:
The best location for the best price...We are one block from the metro (30 meters), a two minute walk to Botafogo beach, one metro station from Copacabana, two blocks from a super market and only one block to Botafogo Shopping Mall.
In front of the mall you can take a bus to anywhere in the city: Copacabana, Ipanema, Botanical Gardens, Leblon, Santa Teresa, Lapa and downtown Rio are all less than 20 minutes away. You can also get a bus to or from the International Airport and the Bus Station.
We are located on one of the main streets in Botafogo, but the closest bars, clubs or pool halls are at least one block away: So you won't need to worry about noise or music pumping at 1am.
Fun:
If you like parties... this is where to start your trip. We have a bar with sound equipment where you can plug in your iPod and be the DJ or let someone else take over. A pool table is available to use for free and the beer is cheap. The space is free so make the party you want! Thank God... It's Friday night. Rio´s best nightlife is in Lapa. Everybody including the staff head out for a night of dancing in the streets!
If you're looking for something a little more laid back, there's a television with plenty of movies and we are more than happy to book tours around the city for you.
Staff:
This is hard to explain. We have, tall, short, fat, thin, blond, brunette... just joking...
But... We have Moe (a kind of young Mom) who usually takes care of you if you get sick, sunburned or if you want to eat some popcorn and watch a movie, or if you're cold she'll make you some tea, or she'll cover you with a blanket when you come back late at night and fall asleep on the sofa after you've had a few beers.
When you come back to the hostel after a long walk around town or from the beach, there is always a great atmosphere in our hostel, so if you like to socialize with others and bring positive vibes to share, then we recommend you stay here. Our Hostel is for all types of travelers and the only one in Rio de Janeiro declared gay friendly. We have a great and safe location, helpful staff and a price that can't be beat.
Ace Backpackers is a fine example of a "home away from home".

If you are booking a package of NYE or Carnival online, the hostel requests FULL payment 2 days after you made the booking to secure your bed(s). After making the booking for New Years (NYE) or Carnival you should send a Western Union transfer (www.westernunion.com) under the name of Henry M Lippi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and send us the 10 digit tracking number in order to find your deposit and confirm your booking until 48 hours of your booking. 2 days after you book your package for NYE and/or carnival you agree that your credit card will be charged between 50% and 100% of the balance due, plus a tax of US$40.00. If you have other cards than VISA, you should send the number of a valid Visa Card by email or phone us at the number provided in your confirmation. For NYE and Carnival we only accept VISA card.

It is very easy to find us: All you need to do is get to the beginning of Rua São Clemente in the neighborhood of Botafogo. São Clemente is one of the main streets in Botafogo, and the beginning is near the beach. We are at number 23, about 20 meters from the beach.
You can reach us by local city buses. Many of them go through Botafogo and stop one block from the hostel. To get there walking you may ask:
- "Por favor, onde fica a Rua São Clemente?"
To tell the taxi driver to take you there:
- "Rua São Clemente número vinte e tres, em Botafogo" or simply show them the address, as usual ;-). All taxi drivers know! So if they pretend they don't, insist. Also, you can ask to be dropped off at Botafogo Praia Shopping Center; we are two minutes from there.
Now the only thing you need is to walk to number 23 (There is a big number on the top of the door) and ring the bell on the top that says Ace Backpackers at the GOLDEN door. For safety purposes There is no sign in front of the hostel that says here is a hostel. Look for several flags hanging from the balcony.
But if you're still far away from Rio, use the following directions:
From Novo Rio Bus Terminal:
- When you get off the bus do not cross any gate, just look for Platform #60 (the area where all buses arrive). At platform #60 buy a ticket from the CIA SAO SILVESTRE Company going to the metro. Get off at the Estacio Metro station and take the metro in direction to South Zone (Zona Sul)- Copacabana. Then, get off at the Botagofo metro station and exit towards Sao Clemente. Walk towards the beach. We are number 23 on the right hand side of the street. Ring the bell on the top that says Ace Backpackers...And here you are.
This is the best and easiest way to get here. Metro has information in English regarding the name of the stops/stations.
From Tom Jobim (Galeão) International Airport (GIG)
- Take the Real Company bus outside the airport and get off at the Botafogo praia shopping center walk one more block in the same direction that the bus was going, turn right onto Rua Sao Clemente and we're located about 20 meters down the road on the left.
From Santos Dumont Airport (SDU)
- Take the Real Company bus outside the airport and get off at the Botafogo praia shopping center walk one more block in the same direction that the bus was going, turn right onto Rua Sao Clemente and we're located about 20 meters down the road on the left.
If you take a taxi, it shouldn't cost more than R$ 60,00.
