The hotel is best known for its afternoon Edwardian tea service which features fresh scones, sandwiches, preserves and cream. The Fairmont Empress Hotel (also known as just The Empress) is also very well known for its Afternoon Tea (High Tea). People come from all around (and not just people staying at the Empress) for the tea service. You can have delicate sandwiches and Empress Blend tea in an elegant setting in the Tea Lobby, which overlooks the Inner Harbour.

Aug 27, 2008 If your going to be in Victoria, make sure you have high tea at the beautiful Fairmont Empress Hotel. The dining room is beautiful. The food is abundant and delicious with a variety of sandwiches, scones, and desserts. The hotel is on the waterfront. We did not stay at the hotel, but I am sure the accomodations are quite nice. Oh, and they have a nice little gift shop across from the dining room where you can buy some English tea or beautiful tea cups to take home as souvenirs or gifts for your friends. It took my husband and he loved it, but a group of ladies would really enjoy it for sure. It is the nicest place I have had tea, after the Ritz in London of course! Oct 12, 2008 You must stop in here - for tea/brunch or lunch or even drinks in the exoctic/retro BENGAL ROOM. Great property, wonderful ice cream on the balcony in front by the entrance. Highly recomended, stroll the grounds as well. Then go get lost in Victoria's charming Chinatown
