Rinconcito Lodge is a great jumping point to Rincón de la Vieja, a less-traveled part of Costa Rica with soothing hot springs and refreshing waterfalls. The canopy ziplines are not as exciting as Monteverde, but they're cool nonetheless. The lodge arranges its own canopy tours, horseback rides and hikes into Rincón de la Vieja. David is a wonderful innkeeper and the food his cooks serve is fantastic. The guides are really friendly here, especially Walter, a how's-it-hangin' sort of guy with rasta hair who's full of pura vida and totally proud to show you around this beautiful corner of Costa Rica. A bit out of the way, but that's the whole point!
