The couple who run it are very friendly and helpfull. It is run out of their home but they have plenty of space. a great room on the terrace and stairs to go on top so you get an excelent view of the dunes to the north and the town to the south. They also have a room and dorm down stairs. as well as 'camping' options in the yard or on the terrace. You can get breakfast and simple meals with them. It is a good way to discover what life is really like in Timbuktu . You meet local people who have nothing to do with tourism and are protcted from the constant hassle of touts and guides. It is located north of the flamme de la paix two blocks past the school.

I really enjoyed staying here and felt completely at home, Miranda spent many hours talking to me about Mali and Shindouk filled me in on the fascinating history of the Toureg people (he doesn't speak English and my French isn't good enough to converse but Miranda was happy to translate).  If you're interesting in the history of the region of just want a genuine place to stay that shows you a little of the local life, then this is definitely the place for you.
