Wonderful place. We went to the Sandos Gala Hotel, Playacar, near Cancun in August 2006 with our two teenage kids. Loads of activities for them including disco on-site. Hotel is within a secure compound so kids very safe. Food excellent - everything you could possibly want and to suit all tastes. Loads of excursions. Would highly recommend Chicinitza (Mayan Pyramids). Would also recomend the quad biking excursion - brilliant fun. Relax with a massage on the beach!!! Great pools for those who don't like the sea. Good range of souvenir shops about a 10 minute walk away - go early evening as too hot during the day. Good entertainment every evening by multi-lingual entertainment team. Scuba diving school on-site (PADI). Two trips which are a must is the submarine - absolutely fantastic and swimming with Dolphins at Delphinus (half the price of Florida and much longer). Beware of sudden downpours of rain - very heavy (monsoon) but only last a few minutes. Most of the rain comes at night. Very humid - you WILL sweat alot!!!!Would highy recommend. Ideal for families and couples.
