Three Camel Lodge
About Three Camel Lodge
Three Camel Lodge is a unique Mongolian ger/yurt camp. It serves as a base for exploring the Gobi Desert region. The folks at Nomadic Expeditions can help arrange trips in the area. The camp itself has a very large dining ger serving very good food, especially considering the remoteness. A downstairs bar has beer and a well-stocked bar for unwinding after a long, dusty day in the desert. Accommodations are basic but comfortable two-bed gers.

Oct 7, 2008 I spent several nights at the camp as part of a dinosaur dig in the Gobi. The lodge has grown since my visit in 2003. There were maybe 10-12 gers back then. The gers are simple traditional round and portable homes of the Mongolians. Beds are warm and comfortable, if basic. Lighting is available at night from solar-charged batteries. Hot water was provided for hot tea in the evenings. The food available in the restaurant is very good and surprisingly varied Mongolian fare. When I was there the bar had just opened, and it was fun to be there on its first night. Cultural performances of traditional music are amazing. This is a great, restful place to stay out in the Gobi. Oct 9, 2008 We were delighted with the surrounding area, including the Flaming Cliffs where dinosaurs have been found, and the Singing Dune, which is like Mother Earth humming to you. Three Camels Lodge was a perfect base with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed several performances by traditional musicians and actors. The paleontologists closed the season's dig while we were there and held two evening presentations where they took questions and showed slides. All in all, an experience of a lifetime.
