Oct 30, 2009 Although we enjoyed our stay at Hooper Bay Villas this month we had a really hard time finding the beach access that the hotels website claims to be a 5 minute walk away. We spoke with many locals residents who advised us that they have had problems with other guest thinking there is beach access close to the Cottages but that across the street was really private property. In the end we were able to find public beaches but we had to take taxi's which were an average of $30USD a day. Had we known this ahead of time we may have considered a beach front property and paid a bit more money. Upon return from my trip I did share my feedback with the Cottages "Guest Services" and was accused of basically not being able to see it which dismayed me quite a bit since we had spent so much time looking and asking people where the public access to the beach was. The hotel proceeded to email me photo's of the "path" to the beach and I truly wish I could post what they sent me (at the request of the hotel I have been asked not to upload these photos) because they show a unmarked, leaf covered path about as wide as a person with no markers (like the rest of the public beaches on the island) and going down what looks to be the side of someone's property on a steep hill. To me this shows that if the beach did infact exist then it was near impossible to find. Again, the accommodations themselves and the service provided at the hotel were great, however due to the negative correspondence upon my return and not being able to easily access the beach I would not recommend this hotel.
