With surprisingly soft beds, a top-rating restaurant, excellent exercise facilities and top-notch service, the Hyatt on Capitol Square has definitely been one of the finer hotels I have stayed in.
The rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of space and amenities. I must say that the view from my window wasn't as flattering as it could have been. Rooms on the north side of the hotel offer a wonderful vantage point at which to view the Ohio Statehouse and downtown Columbus; while the south and east sides mostly show a large construction site or the roof of the Ohio Theatre. If you want a room with a view, I would suggest reserving a spot on the north side of the building.
The hotel staff were constantly attentive and polite; they overall helped make my trip a more enjoyable one. Not to mention the wonderful dining opportunities on site. If you are going for a quick or casual meal, stop at Darby's Cafe on the outdoor porch while relaxing to the sound of water gushing from the fountain. Perhaps you wish to dine at a more upscale location? You can visit The Plaza, one of the finest restaurants lower Columbus! With it's elegant view of the Capitol from the second story picture windows, you'll be relaxed and enjoying yourself in no time!
And just because you are on vacation doesn't mean you cant find time for exercise! The Hyatt offers a complete gym and sauna for all guests. You can run on a treadmill, use stair-steppers, bench press and many other workouts. When you are finished, you can relax and exfoliate in the Hyatt's wooden sauna.
Overall, I would give the Hyatt in Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio a five-star rating. I feel that the guest service, the bountiful amenities and the prime location to get anywhere in the city make this my first choice when staying in Columbus.
