Massawa is at the end of everything. At the end of the long road from Asmara to the coast, at the end of Africa, at the end of the desert, at the end of the jety leading to the islands which are the heart of the city. ... and when you stop, at the end of this tiny patch of land, looking across the red sea, you know that facing you there is the Yemen. ... and it is just like a call, inviting you to cross.   There is many things in Massawa. It is a world in itself.
