Jhansi is a place in Uttar Pradesh which is on the railway line when going to Orchha which is in Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for the Rani of Jhansi who was a great freedom fighter in the 1857 freedom struggle rebellion or uprising against the British rule. Jhansi is a small city with a fort which is famously known as the Rani of Jhansi's Fort. It also has a very nice museum which has a lot of stone and terracotta sculptures of Buddhist and Hindu art, miniature paintings and textiles which are worth seeing. The railhead is also used to visit Orchha for it's lovely ruined palaces and temples with paintings besides Jehangir Mahal and the Chattris (cenotaphs) of the kings on the Betwa river.
