Panaji, also called Panjim is the capital of Goa, which was a Portuguese colony until 1991, when it became part of India. It is a rather small town and yet there a few thing to be seen without spending too much time though. Panjim is not a place where you would stay, because there are far better places in Goa with nice and cheap Hotels, Hostels and appartments, you just visit the town on a daytrip in combination with Old Goa or maybe a visit of one of the stil many remaining Portuguese Villas, which are open for visit, mainly no entry fee, but a small donation is expected.
