There's no better place in Sri Lanka for getting away from the built up coastal citias.  Surfing, toking and a few (not great) clubs... accommodation is wonderfully rustic, though i think there is one larger resort-style place clled the Unawatuna Beach Club.  generally a really laid back beach where anything goes
