Always make sure that you have some sort of list for things to do. Juneau is known for its beauty -- in the summer and SOMETIMES in the winter --, but with how small it is, you can get bored pretty easily.  If you're a more daring driver, bad news. People here in Juneau are on the slow side. So if you're planning for a vacation to Juneau, be prepared. You also need to bring some confidence and an outgoing "i dont care of what you think about me" attitude. Not all people in Juneau are kind. I would know, considering that I have taken this first hand. But, even though Juneau has its downsides (like this nasty smelling garbage dump right next to Wal Mart which is the major reason for the bird deformities in the area) there is really good food places. The names of the places aren't at the top of my head right now really but at the Nugget Mall near where I live, they have a great place to have steak sandwhiches. Be careful though, the people who work there aren't the brightest crayon in the box. There is also a place near the port with the BEST waffles EVER. I believe that its called the Alaskan Waffle Company or something like that. GO THERE. When I do, I usually get the Chocolate Chip waffle (they're all belgian waffles btw so they're pretty big) with a side of peanut butter. May sound gross, but trust me... IT'S THE BEST. My dad and stepmom usually get the waffle with the ham and eggs mixed in with salsa and sour cream. Again, may sound gross.... but don't underestimate food people. Oh, and the people who work there are nice. (Downside is you have to pick up the mess. No worries, just put the dirty dishes on this lunch cart, hang the syrup on the side, and you're good to go. It's actually the nicer thing to do since they just made you the best waffles in the world!!!) All in all, Juneau may be small, but the food and some of the sights are great. Just whatever you do... don't live there permenantly. Talk about a major mistake.
