Boise Tips

Tip on : Boise - 3 years ago

Famous for the 'Smurf turf' at Boise State University, this city has a lot of charm for a small city. During the summer there is a free concert in the heart of downtown, the Grove, and the crowd spills out to all of the local restaurants and bars in downtown and the 8th street market place.
During the winter the local ski hill, Bogus Basin (named for a failed gold mine) is only 16 miles outside of town. With seven ski lifts, 2600 acres of terrain and 1800 feet of vertical this Mountain provides quality winter entertainment.
Boise is home to one of the largest (if not THE largest) basque populations outside of the Basque country. The Mayor of Boise is of Basque heritage, and there is a 'Basque block' in downtown with a museum and Bar Guernica serving traditional Basque fare.
