Atlantic City Tips

Tip on : Atlantic City - 5 years ago

Always Turned On   I took part in Work and Travel Program and I was employed in Resort’s Casino in Atlantic City for 4 months. I had a chance to see good and bad sides of this city. The Bordwalk and Casinos look beautiful, but the deeper you get to the rest of the city it’s becoming uglier and especcially at night can be dangerous. I was always trying to go back home with somebody else, becasue one of my firends was attacked by some thieves. The Atlantic City is always turned on, casinos are open 24 hours a day, most of the restaurants and bars as well. During the season ( May – October ) and weekends is awfully crowded . People are in different age, most of the families come with children ( but worth to remmember is you have to be over 21 years old to stay inside the casino ( casino floor). If you are under you can just walk through with somone older. There are different casinos in AC. From my own experience and opinions of my friends the best ones to stay ( gamble and dine) are: Tropicana ( very nice rooms and diffrent attractions), Ceasars and Showboat. In the Resort’s where I worked most of the rooms are old and do not look too good, but the food is very nice. All in all casinos look fine but they are not comparable to the ones in Las Vegas J. When you book your room is good to arrive as early as it possible because sometimes, especcially in summer you can be sent somwhere else due to lack of rooms. ( even if you have reservation – all the casinos are overbooked). The parking is very expensive, average 15-20 $ a day, plus be prepared for the tipping. Tip for valet, tip for housekeeper and of course for a server, so maybe if your packet is not very big it's better to stay in one of the smaller hotels. Holiday- Inn's and other.   You can get FREE parking at Showboat casino, or $5/day for non-member. To get free parking, you have to go to the casino and apply for a reward card which is also free. I saw one review said you need to go through the casino to get to the boardwalk, that is NOT true. There are alway access paths beside each casino, but walk through casino will be much colder in summer :)

Good tip?
