Phu Quoc is a special island: if you travel around May to August, then the western coast of the island tends to be stormy and wet, but coasts such as Bai Kem or An Thoi enjoy beautiful weather. If you travel around November, December to Spring, then the western coast is the best place to go.

What to do: Enjoy the pristine beach, trekking and swimming in Suoi Da Creek. Rent a boat at An Thoi and head to Hon Mong Tay or Hon Dam Ngoai for your own private beach! Visit the pearl farm, Fish sauce plant and pepper plantations (Vietnam is the world's largest exporter of pepper and a good number of it comes from Phu Quoc!). Try the "Co bien mai", a specialty mollusk dish. Go cuttlefish fishing, visit Duong Dong fish market, Phu Quoc prison or just lazily boosting your vitamin D dose in the resort.
