Puerto Iguazu, Litoral Region, Argentina
Stunning place and well worth the trip if you have to go out of your way to get there. On the Argentine side a train brings you into the National Park (no cars allowed) and I'd recommend going to the last stop first as if you run out of time by visiting the other stops first you'll miss the highlight of the falls - the Devil's Throat. Amazing.

Stay at the Sheraton Internacional Iguazu Resort inside the National Park of Iguazu Falls on the Argentina side! It is a little bit more expensive but totally worth every penny!! This is what I wrote on tripadvisor:

The only reason to stay at this hotel is for its location. It will take you about 20-30 minutes to get into "town" from the national park by car so staying inside the Park is THE BEST perk when you want a break in the middle of the day!!

The hotel is a bit worn down (as many reviewers have said). But, the staff is friendly and you really can't beat the location. My husband and I were actually put in a room with 2 'full' size beds that were too small for both of us to fit. On the other hand, if you are traveling with a friend, you could easily share a room and not a bed!

The bathroom in the rooms isn't the nicest. But, you shower and clean yourself off and it is fine! Personally, I wouldn't go barefoot...

The pool is a bit worn down. It needs a paint job. But will do the trick by cooling you off when you need it! The towels are free, the bar is stocked and the bathroom just off the pool deck is really nice with showers, etc. (A good place to clean up if you have a late flight out of Iguazu!)

The Spa is BLISS! The 4 hour package with full body massage, stretching, facial and 'special indoor pool' is worth the treat! It is just under 500 Peso's (a little over $160USD for 4 hours!) and is the best way to end a day of hiking around the falls!

We were told by family that food in Iguazu is terrible! They did not lie! We went to "town" for dinner one evening to a fish restaurant that was "the best in town" and we thought it was gross. The next evening we ate the buffet at the hotel which wasn't the greatest food I've ever eatten but was much better than the fish restaurant. Plus, for a buffet, it was a pretty good sample of Argentine cuisine!

Even with my negative points, I would still stay at this hotel again and recommend it to my closest friends. The location can not be beat it is worth the extra money! (You'll spend the money you save by getting into and out of the park everyday via taxi and park fees).

Don't forget your Starwood number! You can drink bottles of water in the room for free just by being a member!

Take bug spray and get your shots. Bring an extra memory card for your digitsl camera AND enjoy the falls!

Casi su único atractivo es encontrarse cerca de las cataratas. Muuucho calor.

When you come from Paraguay to Puerto Iguazu, it feels like entering Europe... This little city lives on tourism. There are so many hostels, restaurants, bars and shops and the atmosphere is great. Puerto Iguazu is famous for its leather-shops. The hostels can be pricy, but the bars are rather cheap. When you visit the waterfalls, you must visit this city in the evening.

Spend a night at the Sheraton inside the Argentina side of the park. Make sure to go over to the Brazil side while you are there. If you do not have a visa, the taxi driver will take you across the border with a "propina" for the border guard.
