This city, declared World's Heritage by UNESCO, is one of the most beautiful of Brazil. I recomend a visit to Pelourinho by day and by night, because is very interesting and there are a lot of musical shows.

Salvador is loud and fun and beautiful. Several times a week, the batería (drumbands that walk the streets) hits the streets... It's great fun to follow them, dance to the rythm and enjoy the energy. Apart from the music and the beautiful colonial buidings, the province of Bahia is famous for it's great food. Don't forget to sample moqueque, a lovely dish of seafood, coconut and spices. Most portions in Brazilian restaurants easily serve two, so if you are travelling alone (as I was), this might be a great chance to invite some streetkids for a bite.

See Olodum, see any live music you can.  I had no money when I was in Salvador, and it wasn't a good place to be. It is reasonably expensive, and the beach isn't good enough to sit at all day. Pelhourinho is a wonderful spot in the city, but also v. dangerous.  Always cab home from the venue. I wouldn't recommend leaving the back of the Barra Mall after a late movie either.  Very Scary street to find yourself on.

Náttlega æðislegur staður. mæli mð því að fara þangað, en til þess að geta gert c.a allt sem væri gaman er betra að fá sér guide, og fara í miðbæin og skoða kirkjurnar þar !! það er bara allgjört must !!! ekki endilega vegna trúar heldur vegna kirkjanna !! :O svo þarftu að fara í skjalböku garðin !
Alls ekki fá þér sjávarrétti á þessu svæði í braziliu, hann er allur eins á bragðið? svoldið eins og hann sé úldinn !

very good seafood- restaurants close to the farol da barra.
the island "morro de sao paulo" ist very lovely, one hour from salvador city, boats every day.
take a room in a pousada on the 2nd or 3rd beach, there are less peoplo than on the first. when you're arriving in morro, you will be asked if you want to visit different pousadas- he will show you some in you price class, and you can have a look at them before deciding(service which includes the carriage of you bagages) costs about 10 dollars.
lots of restaurants on the island and also fresh fruit drinks(with alcohol) and the beaches are also very nice.
