Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada
The hotel on the lake is great to stay at. But the lake itself is worth it.

The Post Hotel which is located on the river behind the Lake Louise Mall is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at in Canada. It is a very charming hotel du charme. Coffee in the lobby after skiing in the afternoon with a homemade pastry is a wonderful experience as is lunch or dinner in their five star dining room. The pub is also great and less expensive. Great food and the owners are very warm and friendly and always welcome you back. Definitely worth the price and it is not cheap. There is also a wonderful spa. And a bus right up to the ski hill every 30 minutes.

This is not a cheap visit, but if you just go for the day and pack your own lunch you can go to the hotel and look a the shops or take a little hike and see the wildlife and the mountains without spending much at all.

Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada
Went there three times, all in the summer, and it's a lovely place. I lived in the grand Chateau Lake Louise in one of my travels there and enjoyed the breakfast there, and the lake is a great place to take a morning stroll after breakfast.

Lake Louise village is really a small ski resort. If you're there in the summer instead then the campground is good and you can hire bikes for a nice trip up to the Lake itself. Just beware of the bears!

Absoultely beautiful. Come early in the morning for best parking, and in the winter bring your ice skates and skate on Lake Louise. (I very much wanted to join the pick up game of hockey going on). There is a little "family restaurant" just off the lake in the little strip mall, however, where we received the worst service I've ever had while travelling!
