Dundas is a nice town in Ontario. It has a nice street to walk through with several shops. Some of them are quite nice.
One especially is the horn of plenty! (all kinds of flour; candy etc)
Close to the town there is webster falls. Beautiful for a walk or just to look at.

Steel town! It's the smelly half-way point between Toronto and Niagara. Avoid it at all costs.

Depending on what time of the year you go, the Vermont Maple Festival is a good option, especially if you have kids. It tends to take place in late April and includes contests, a parade, arts and crafts, face painting a many other activities. You can also head down to Lake Champlain and go for a boatride.

Go see the Canada Geese at the Royal Botanical gardens in Hamilton, nice gift shop there too. Romantic setting and lots of nature trails too, fun for all the family.
