Travel Tips - Sightseeing & AttractionsZagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia Zagreb, the capital of Croatia offers a lot, from shopping, night life to sightseeing, you should visit in spring (April, May) Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia I just LOVED Zagreb - it's such a nice city with many historical buildings and good food. A trip to the Plitvice Lakes is surely worth it too! Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia The centre of Zagreb is split into a lower and upper section. All the major attractions are close by to the main square near a tram stop. There is a 'railway' called the 'Old Lady of Zagreb' which takes you to the upper level and back. The ride lasts about a minute and it's cheap to go on. You can walk up the hill but it's fun to take the ride at least once. St Marks Church is at the top and its tiled roof with national emblems is good to look at. There are museums nearby including one containing the broken remains of furniture destroyed during the Balkans War. Croats are very passionate about their country, and a night at a bar watching the football is a rowdy experience! I also visited the KSet club on the outskirts of the city, which was a good experience, and cheap prices. Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia Try to visit the Zoo in Maksimir park and Botanical garden. Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia nice people, good beer, all these in a very charismatic town. even if it is a bit expensive Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia The Croatian capital has lots to see by way of museums, parks and the like... but would rather suggest spending your time on the coast, Dubrovnik upwards, hopping off at as many cities there as you can... but perhaps a couple of days at Zagreb is still worth it ... for a more East European or Balkan feel to Croatia, as against the Mediterranean feel its coast offers... Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia Mimara Museum, very nice highway from Split to Zagreb Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia maksimir stadium...the stadium of dinamo zagreb Good tip? (0) Velika Gorica, Central Croatia, Croatia Velika Gorica is a town situated in the suburbs of Zagreb, Croatia's capital, but it is the town with it's own history and personality. It is famous because of it's beautiful parks and nearby roman ruins, it has a very popular radio station and Zagreb's airport is close by. Velika Gorica is the main town of a region Called Turopolje, that gained it's name because of the Tur, it was a kind of an wild ox that use to live in that area but no longer exists. Good tip? (0) Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia Zagreb's funicular may be one of the shortest at just 66 meters, but its 55-second ride (progressively more exciting the younger you are) will take you to another world, far removed from crowds of the Lower Town. The journey starts at Tomićeva Street, just off Ilica. Exit a few meters away from the Lotršćak Tower and right in front of you is the Strossmayer Promenade, offering some wonderful panoramic views over Zagreb's rooftops and extending to Kaptol and the rest of the Old Town with its restaurants and cafes.
