    Pula, Istria Region, Croatia
This is a place to largely avoid, ferries rarely run (in my experience-2 visits, one peak summer one off season) and getting there and back is harder than it should be. However there is a lovely ampitheatre which is worth seeing.
I would not consider Pula to be a 'must go' town.

Pula is the largest city in Istria, don't miss to visit the Arena (ancient ruins) arrive early to avoid the crowds, a very interesting sight to see, very well preserved and a huge structure near the middle of town. One of the 4 largest of its kind in the world and one of only a handful remaining in Croatia, The Arena is similar to the Roman Colosseum Temple of Augustus (religious sight), Double gate, gate of Hercules etc.... nice Roman style parts of town to see, to much crowdy and loud for vacation... never had problems with annoyance or any kind of danger what so ever... Locals are hostable, pizza, ice-cream and stuff are expensive in the center
