There is plenty of greenery in and around Cienfuegos ... something reflected in its central square ... lined by majestic looking buildings in pastel shades of blue, pink, green and cream... Cienfuegos is not Havana in terms of things to do, but it offers a few things to explore around the central square... and some pleasant strolls around the city ... once you have eaten at the touristy but ok Palatino, where your coach is likely to take you if you are part of a traditional tour group for your sightseeing...

This is a major city and a stop on the travel bus route through provinces in Cuba.  Our plane made an emergency landing here to, during a storm.  The people here are not as friendly as in smaller towns.  I didn't know much Spanish but got along.  TIPS:Know Spanish!Stay with friends.Carry toilet paper!DO NOT take pictures of soldiers, or those who you haven't asked permission.Buy no more than three boxes of cigars.
