W-O-W- what a city. Middle age here is still active. You can eat nuts, or a glass of hot wine, and enjoy the atmosphere of the great nord. People is very kind, they speak english very well. Only pay attention to the drunk people coming from Finland, especially on the ferries!

Old Town is a must see... The origins of Tallinn date back to the 13th century, when a castle was built there by the crusading knights of the Teutonic Order. It developed as a major centre of the Hanseatic League, and its wealth is demonstrated by the opulence of the public buildings (the churches in particular) and the domestic architecture of the merchants' houses, which have survived to a remarkable degree despite the ravages of fire and war in the intervening centuries.

Tallinn has got to be one of the most beautiful cities around... not just in the Baltics but in Europe .... its got a quaint medieval charm to it with its cobbled streets, walled parts and lively markets... but, of course, its a modern city too with enough restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, and the lot... sit at one and take in Tallinn's festive atmosphere...its got some beautiful people too...easily reached from Helsinki by ferry or from Russia or Latvia by coach and train...

Uniquestay Hotel, Tallinn by mydreamquest Send Photo to a Friend Uniquestay is an efficiently run hotel with courteous, personable, helpful, and reliable staff that speak perfect English and offer very comfortable, clean, and newly furnished, modern looking rooms that even have a computer on a desk with free personal, high-speed internet access available in your room.

There is also an excellent free breakfast available until noon in each morning with excellent coffee and a wide selection of meats, cookies, cereals, yogurts, vegetables, and other tastey and very fresh foods to choose from. You will be stuffed from breakfast, but you need not worry about gaining weight, for you will need the energy and fuel in your body to walk about old town Tallinn, a short walk just outside the entrance.

Be careful of the entrance as it is located at a bbrief sidewalk in front of a busy intersection where cars blind turn right, at high speeds, right into you as your cross the street towards old town. Do not walk idly until you've crossed the street, then you are safe.

If you love dark, dimly lit atmospheres with a medievil theme, excellent food, candles, friendly service, exotic cuisines, and an adventure, you will not find a better place than Olde Hansa in Tallinn's Old Town.

You will have have both fun and ease navigating your way through the menu with a variety of Estonian dishes. Some of the dishes are quite exotic such as wild boar, rabbit, or get this: Bear!!! Yes, I couldn't resist and ate bear peppered , spiced and topped with Lingonberries. All the dishes were superb. For you beer lovers, try the herb beer. It has a uniquely sweet taste.

For English speakers, the menus are well written in English and the servers speak perfect English too.

Favorite Dish: Without a doubt the Bear dish and the mushroom soup were my favorite dishes. Mushrooms in Estonia are quite delicious.

The rabbit is good and the bread is fresh and warm.

Open til midnight. Be sure to get reservations far in advance. You really do not want to miss out on experiencing this restaurant.

Just off near Old Town is a Hungarian Restaurant that is very good and has a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Food was fresh, filled with lots of tastes and spices; wine was superb. The breads and goulash (it may say "guljash" on the menu) soup was excellent.
