Prague, Central Bohemia Region, Czech Republic Avoid taxicabs unless you know how much a fare should be from one place to another. Negotiate this price in advance. Good tip? (+10) Inis, County Clare, Ireland Take your time to explore Country Clare. The Cliffs of Moher are very touristic with lots of people, the not so famous cliffs (south) of Killrush are also nice to visit on a rainy or stormy day! Try visiting the Aran Island (in particular Inishmore). Go by boat (from Doolin) and rent a bike to explore the islands. Go walking in the Burren or drive through with your car. Take a few moments to enjoy the mistic Poulnabrone Dolmen. Good tip? (+4) Rome, Lazio Region, Italy An extraordinary country! Good to visit, always! Good tip? (+4) Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France Bordeaux is a very nice town, I lived there for six months. If you like to go out and like latin music, check out the Calle Ocho in the Rue du Loup. It's quite small and hot, but the atmosphere is amazing! For just grabbing a pint, I really enjoyed the Houses of Parliament, an English pub in the rue du parlement. The rue Ste-Catherine is Bordeaux' shopping street and is the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe. If you don't find what you're looking for there, you won't find it anywhere. A very nice calm place to sit and enjoy the surroundings is at the hôtel de ville, and also the place Gambetta. The city has a lot of public transport (trams busses), but most things are within walking range. Good tip? (+3) London, England, United Kingdom Buy a travel card - it will save a few quid when getting about. Good tip? (+3) Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania is a funny city, with a huge and cheap nighlife. The city is grey because of all the buildings built during the communism, streets are not always safe but not so much dangerous, is not the most beautiful city in romania but u can stop to see one of the biggest building in the world. The cost of life is cheap with LEU the courrency. People are not always friendly, u hav to be safe, but i met some beautiful ones that made me change my mind a little. the transportation are very good and cheap, i paid more and less 7 euros monthly for underground that connect all the main districts. The food is cheap and good, if like soups and vegetables there are a lot of markets with fresh food. Good tip? (+2) Caorle, Veneto Region, Italy Hmmm... are you German? Brittish? NO? well, Caorle is.... quite a place out there, in the middle of nowhere. Unlike the stereotypical idea, the truth is that the place is a little town where locals work their ass of in the summer season... the beach is crowded of umbrellas standing on a row, in a perfect, straight line. There is no space for your own towel...
Basically, its just a little beachtown that is trying to make money out of foreign (mainly german and british) tourists in the summer months. YOU NEED A CAR, because there is not much to do in the village.... with a car you can get to venice and other cities, which you shouldnt miss if you are in this part of italy.
Seriously... there is not much to see or do... if you wanna party, choose Jesolo instead of Caorle... if you go for the beach, go further south where the water is clear.... or why not to Croatia, same sea, but less people and cheaper...
If you still go... enjoy! Good tip? (+2) Pula, Istria Region, Croatia Brunic is a taxi driver who will give you a great insight into Pula just for the fare +385 (098) 367660 Funny lad to boot. Good tip? (+2) Dublin, Dublin & Surrounds, Ireland If you want to go for a city break, Dublin is fine, but 2 days are enough to visit almost everything! The city is not huge. I enjoyed going for a pint in Temple bar (Quays Bar), with Irish music almost everyday! Good tip? (+2) Kaamanen, Finland I never thought before to go to the North Pole, but once i met a friend who went there and told me how amazing is. So, I decided to go with four friends and it have been one of the best experiences in my life. We went during January, therefore, when we arrive it was all complete white. We went from Copenhagen to Ivalo aiport and there we took a taxi until the bus station where we needed to take a bus to Jokitorma/Kaamanen. It was perfect because the bus stopped just in front of our hostel. A wood house between nothing, just snow and silence. Silence. It was the first time in my life that I heard the silence, and it was amazing.
In the hostel we contact with a very nice woman who rent her snowmobilings for us. We met some natural people from there, called Sami's and it was the best thing in our trip. They showed us a lot of things from there, their customs and works. They were farmers of rendieers, an really beutiful animal, more in their natural habitat.
Also this people showed us how they live and they explain us how is Kaamanen in other seasons. How common is to see the Northen Lights and wich is the perfect weather to see it.
In Inari, more or less near to Kaamanen by bus, you can find the Siida Museum, that it's so cheap and really nice. In this museum you can find all the information about Sami's culture as well as about the fauna, weather and all natural things in Lapland. Probably you will see as well expositions of Sami's artists (pictures, clothes, etc) and is really interesting.
Moreover, in Siida there is a open air ice theater! that is sooo cold but very nice. In this ice theater during January they celebrate a Cinema Festival, where they show films of Sami's directors and producers, but also some films from other countries like England, Norway, etc. So some of this films are in finish but also you can see some of them with english subtitles.
Definitly you should go there, but only if you love the nature, to know a really unknown and amazing culture, and if you want to meet a really kind and lovely people.
Kiitos!! Good tip? (+2) |
