    Helsinki, Southern Finland, Finland
Liquor and Cigarettes, along with countless other things, are Tax free in neighboring Tallinn, Estonia. This leads people from Helsinki to make day trips here to stock up 'supplies'. The ferry ride is a comfortable 2 1/2 hours between Helsinki and Tallinn, and it gets you those cool stamps in your passport. How many of you're friends can say, "Oh, and this is the stamp from when we went to Estonia". So if your in either Tallinn or Helsinki, there absolutely NO excuse to not visit the other.

    Tampere, Western Finland, Finland
Walking along the Tammerkoskis-Shore is so beautiful, this old brick stone factory building makes it really special.

Then there is this bridge where you can make a wish by rubbing the toe of a statue. I don't know which statue in particular cause all the toes there looked kind of "used-up"

Go to Santa's Office an write all your X-Mas Cards there. It doesn't matter when you're there, they get deliverd just short before Christmas. You can also visit Santa himself, he speaks all languages in the world - at least he knows how to say HI in the most common ones.

When you are in Rovaniemi you need to visit the Santa Clauses Village. I think it is a really nice place for children and adults who behave like these ;-) You can visit Santa Clause and can meet Rudolph the rednosed reindeer.

    Rovaniemi, Northern Finland, Finland
Woong and I spent a week in northern Finland summer 2005. It was so beautiful. Rovaniemi is a great place to begin with. We got an overnight train there and then rented a car to drive to our rented cottage in Kaaresuvanto on the border with Sweden. We spent the week trekking and enjoying the sights and nature. It was well worth it. Would definitely recommend finding a nice cottage as a base from which to explore. Coming back to a warm fire and sauna every evening sure made the trip that much better.

    Juankoski, Eastern Finland, Finland
Best place (and only place) where to stay over night is Hotel Niskakoski some 500 metres from city center towards Juankoski canal and big factories that lies at river banks. There's restaurant too at hotel. If you prefer grill food you can find such at city center.

City center is between Juankoski trainstation and Stromsdal factories. It's quite small and it's quite easy to drive through it without noticing. If you unfortunately drive through it without stopping you lose opportunity to drink refreshments and try really delicious buns and pastries at Herkku-Vehnänen confectionery.

At city center there's also Juice Leskinen's square where you can see monument dedicated to this great finnish composer and lyricist who was born at Juankoski. Monument might be little hard to find but it's right next to the biggest shop in city center.

Nightlife happens mostly at Hotel Niskakoski and at Disco Marilyn.
