If you want to hear about a wierd bit of our global history it could be useful for you to know that Calvi is competing (or trying to) as one of several of the cities where Christopher Colombus either was born or at least left from on its way to discover the New World. Unfortunately local legends vary and contradict not only official history but also each other.

There is this really nice camping which is called panoramic! If you are there outside the season you will have the best chance of pitching up your tent at the lowest teras where you will enjoy a panoramic view and sunset (hence the name)! Your ent will be under an eucalyptus tree, so when you wkae up there is this wonderfull scent... Another tip is to take a walk to the ghost town of Oggio, splendid view and you might see snakes! On the way back yu go through the maquis bushes, which again smell great.

Best thing to do is hire a car as public transport is so so. The mountains are truly spectacular!
