I've been only to the airport twice, and boy was it smoky! They did upgrade me to first class though, so can't argue with that!

Small, nice and very important historic town. Easy to get from Berlin.

Go to the center square to check out cool artwork and great restaurants.

The best way into the city from here is the S-Bahn.

In Oranienburg, there is a good museum at the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. This was where many political prisoners were sent, and this one is not as emotionally overwhelming as Buchenwald, the only other camp I have visited.

Basdorf (in Brandenburg, Germany) is a typical village/town in Brandenburg which means it is not nescessarly worth a visit but to get an impression of what the small towns around Berlin look like one could go there. When I was still a child Basdorf as an east German town did not have the best roads but after the wall came down some roads have been renewed and a lot of houses were built for people working in Berlin. Hence old houses and new houses intermix. As with most villages around Berlin there fields and but also pine forrests close by. Since there are few rainfalls the ground is often covered by sand.

A good day trip from Berlin ... its main attraction is easily reached, and it is a refreshing change from Berlin's techno-charged environs...

Close to the entrance of the Park, comming from the Brandenburger Tor, there is a Wiener Tearoom. They have some excellent cakes!
