(+1) Loschwitz, Saxony Region, Germany make a trip with one of the cable cars and visit the neighbourhood Weißer Hirsch Good tip? (+1) Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany Dresden is a town with a historic past. Completely distroyed during WWII it has been rebuilt. The "Zwinger" and the "Semper" opera are musts to see. A very efficient public transport system with modern trams. And old steamboats on the Elbe River. Eat the Dresdner Stollen, mainly at Christmas and buy some of the famous Meissner porcelaine. Good tip? (+1) Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany This is a spooky place and very atmospheric.....check out all the old buildings Good tip? (0) Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany I 've visited Dresden a few years after the Berlin Wall had fallen. The East of Europe, once past the former wall, had a very grey and depressing impact on my teenage mind. Dresden however gave me a feeling of being home again: what a beatyfull city, full of history and warmth! So vivid and different from the rest of Eastern Germany. I definately want to go back there!!! Good tip? (0) Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany silvester in dresden an der elbe, mit den alten gebaeeuden im hintergrund!! Good tip? (0) Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany Now I cant say that I enjoyed Dresden. Although its interesting for historical reasons. Their are a few old buildings to look at, but most of the city was destroyed during the war. As a matter of fact, the city is quite depressing, due to all the communist past only 18 years ago. And if you are looking for nightlife or anything fun to do, you are in the wrong place. I still do recommend to visit the city though, but make sure you only plan a day trip to the city. You will be glad to leave in the evening. Good tip? (0) Dresden, Saxony Region, Germany Weird town. Very beautiful baroque architecture form Dresden's heyday. Just, it is not really clear how much of it survived the bombings of '44. What makes Dresden weird are social modernism examples standing next to all these old churches and palaces. Good tip?
