Dresden is a town with a historic past. Completely distroyed during WWII it has been rebuilt. The "Zwinger" and the "Semper" opera are musts to see. A very efficient public transport system with modern trams. And old steamboats on the Elbe River. Eat the Dresdner Stollen, mainly at Christmas and buy some of the famous Meissner porcelaine.

Fantastic city and one of the most beautiful in Germany (I'm sorry, I have to be a bit passionate) with lots to do, e.g. Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady), Semperoper (Opera house) and Zwinger (museum park). Great restaurants, bars and night life, especially in the New Town. In the surroundings are Moritzburg (nice palace), Meissen (where porcelain was invented), Radebeul (wine) and Saxon Switzerland (great for walking, cycling tours and climbing).

Have a slice of delicious cake at the Palais Cosel , right next to the Frauenkirche .

Dresden is a wonderful and beautiful place. A town with a big history. You can visit the town or go with a steam boat up or down the Elbe river. Also good if you like shopping. Food, specially meat is cheap.

Everybody always says that the Pfund's Molkerei is a must-see in Dresden...I have to say that this is not true! The staff is very, very unfriendly; the goods are not that good and seeing the masses of tourists that are being pushed through the shop every day you won't enjoy yourself and much less have the opportunity for a decent picture of the beautiful tiles.
