Visit the tiny old fisherman's cottages in the small but well preserved old town up on the hill. Buy a 'Fischbroetchen' from one of the vendors down at the quayside. Eat it quickly or the seagulls will take it form you!

In Schleswig, where I was born, there are lots of interesting museums. Right now there's a mummy exhibition at the "Landesmuseum Gottorf" with mummies from all over the world. But Gottorf has more to offer than that: a big permanent exhibition about life in Schleswig and the region. Besides that the city has a beaufitul small old town called "Holm" where still many fishmen live. Haithabu, a big Viking town in the past, has a nice museum with rebuilded houses just outside Schleswig. So it's a pretty historical place but with great nature also. The region is one of the most beautiful regions I've seen so far!
