Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany Wow ! so many things to do there ! two parts of the town, complicated to localise oneself, but soo beautiful ; the Berlin Hostel is the best. Everyone speaks English and want to use it ! Good tip? (0) Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany Die Fabrik = nice hotel! Good prices and different kinds of rooms. Your also close to the oranienstrasse - shops and restaurants. In front of the hotel is also a small and nice restaurant where you can have a nice breakfast or lunch Good tip? (0) Berchtesgaden, Bayern Region, Germany This is a very interesting area... natural beauty and historical points of interested If you are looking for a hotel the Hotel Zum Tuerken was a good choice. The accommodations a rather spartan and impeccable. The breakfast is good. The owner of this hotel also has part of the SS bunker system which you can visit for a nominal fee. This lady is also a wealth of local knowledge. Don't miss the Dokumentation Centre or Koenigsee--take the boatride, it is worth it! http://www.hotel-zum-tuerken.com/ Good tip? (0) Munich, Bayern Region, Germany We went there during Oktoberfest and camped at a place called Thalkirchen which was great, relatively easy to find and has a shop, vending machines with beer etc. We didnt see any of the city but transport was easy enough when we did use it! It was September, but overnight was so cold! During the day was warm though. Good tip? (0) Essen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Region, Germany Industrial town in Northwest Germany, nice nightlife and shopping opportunities Good tip? (0) Ramstein, Rhineland-Palatinate Region, Germany Only US Airforce Base based right next to Ramstein, nice and country little town in old German style Good tip? (0) Heidelberg, Baden-Wurttemberg Region, Germany Heidelberg...expect to stay here for at least 2 days. It is a stunning location, with a beautiful and massive castle ruin overlooking an intact medieval city. The Heilige (Geist?) cathedral is gorgeous and a great example of gothic red sandstone cathedral architecture that is common in Germany. A huge number of women were burned as witches outside the rear of the cathedral where you can now enjoy some hot coffee. :) Concerts are common within the cathedral and the acoustics are amazing. Also try and find some of the great local hostels in the town, the one I stayed at was 2 doors away from the cathedral in a 600 year old building. There is a nightclub called "The Cave" which sounded really cool. It exits in the underbelly of the city! Good tip? (0) Berlin, Berlin Region, Germany Stay in the Movenpick Hotel and get their 3 night special package (dinner, packed lunch and travelpass). Great, funky hotel with an excellent location. Good tip? (0) Kiedrich, Hessen Region, Germany If you are ever visiting Frankfurt, Kiedrick is not too far away on the autobahn. Beautiful, quaint German village with lovely small restaurants, nearby vinyards, and of course, hometown of a waitress I dated who played the Bach on the flute flawlessly.... Good tip? (0) Eltville, Hessen Region, Germany See my review for Kiedrich. This is where I met the waitress I briefly fell for in 1995 and then saw again in 1996 after writing back and forth while at University across the pond in the US. Katharina.... Good tip? (0) |
