Athen gilt zwar nid grad als schöni Stadt, mir gfallt sie aber trotzdem enorm guet. Minre Meinig nah wird i dere Stadt uf engem Ruum wie nieneds andersch Antike und Moderne vereint, i bi scho zwei mal det gsi und de Dräck und de Smog, wo sicher nid zlüügne isch, hend mi aber nid chöne abschrecke. D'Altstadt und d'Akropolis sind echt umwerfend - voruusgsetzt, me interessiert sich chli für d'Antike. Wer nonig gsi isch, söll umbedingt gah und au no chli go d'umgäbig aaluege (Olympia, Delphi, Aigina etc.)

If you're the type to party your ass off, I recommend to keep dancing in clubs (in Psyrri preferably) untill 6 or so, and then walk your way up the Philopappos hill. It's the best place to sleep off your hangover in the sun, surrounded by trees, marble steps and a lot less tourists/people then any other place in a 5 km radius. Find yourself a tree for some shade if you're the Burned-in-5secs-type though, the summersun in Athens is hot enough to bake traditional Italian Pizza's. Keep this up for a few days and you can spend all those hard earned coins on beer, instead of beds. If you just HAVE to have a bed and a shower, I recommend Hotel Lozanni; cheap place great people (especially when I'm working there).

Bring lots of sunscreen and energy. Gorgeous Islands, people and fabulous food. Visit the Acropolis, eat at many Tavernas and definitely for nightlife go the Bouzoukia (Greek Nigh Clubs). For a fabulous, luxurious hotel, stay in Vouliagmeni at theAstir Palace. Island of Mykonos for a night of dancing, Santorini for beauty.....take a yachting trip around the Islands, you will never want to go back home.

Nice town!A lot of things to see and a perfect nightlife!

Spend lots of time at the Plaka Square and watch both the tourists and non-tourists there... also a good place to find lots of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, etc...the obvious stuff like the Pantheon or Socrates has to be done in Athens... so do it... it certainly takes you back in history...and there is lots of it as well... but apart from the historical monuments and some pleasant spots, the city is also quite crowded and chaotic... so head for the islands too for altogether another flavour of Greece...

We stayed at the Strastos Vassilikos Hotel- it was fantastic! This hotel is very pretty, with a modern feel to the decor and lots of glass and colour. We were a little taken by surprise when we saw the room; it was smaller then we had originally thought considering the price, but lovely overall with a huge bathroom. Our only disappointment with the room was that there was no A/C in the "winter" there (February, at 23 degrees everyday... yeah, winter!), and it blew out hot air when we put it on. We compensated and had the window open all the time. The breakfast downstairs in the gorgeous dining room was filling and delicious, and totally worth going down early f or! The staff were more than helpful and very friendly! And if you're looking for location to attractions, this hotel is within walking distance of almost anything you want to see- the Plaka, the Acropolis, etc.
