If you're lucky enough to have some indian sic friends who are getting married jump on the occasion and take the oppotunity to see at least seven days of beautiful receptions between flowers, music, great food and a richness of colours!

When in Delhi, you can´t miss the underground bazaar at The Cannaught Place. Travel by metro to "Cannaught Place" station, as easy as that! Lots and lots of everything, from jewellery to home electronics to perfumes to counterfeit computer software...

at the airport get a pre-paid taxi to phar-ganj, which is the main-bazar. it is located right on the new delhi railway station, so u can't miss it, there u will find food and accomodation. travel plans are easy to arange here. i prefer the hary-rama, just because i'm old-fasion, but sometimes the taxi drivers insist of knowing to which hotel u wish to go, its an easy name to rememebr, and a good place to get off the cab in delhi. good luck, u're gonna need it...

Never hand over you passport in a Delhi airport!

it's hard to give tips on getting around in new delhi because the minute you step out of the station you're surrounded by all kinds of taxidrivers. it's very hard to shake 'em of and choose your own path.

Don't pay 900 rupees for a room on the first night (especially when it doesn't have a fan and its 40 degrees+). It's 400 rupees max.

oh and tell the tuc-tuc driver that you don't want to see his friends store :)

For luxury try The Imperial, near Janpath - street market and bookshops. For those not wanting to spend so much, a GREAT option is The AUROBINDO ASHRAM....tell ricksaw or taxi to take you to Aurobindo Marg (address). For foreigners the accomodation is great - good, clean rooms, meals included in price and the Meditation Hall is so peaceful. It's better to contact them in advance but I found a room in February which is their busy time without having contacted them.

if you can't bear the smell, the dirt, the dust, the smog and the heavy spiced dishes, you might better stay at home!
