Needless to say Bodh Gaya is the most amazing place if you are Buddhist and even if you arent. Its just a shame that there are so many beggers and con artists about trying to annoy you to the point of giving them all your worldly possessions if they'd only go away and leave you be. However, for us Buddhists its a good lesson in patience! Just make sure you are street wise, dont flash your cash around and you will be fine but that goes for anywhere in India really, be careful, be suspicious and you will survive relitively unscathed!

It's a small town in North India. Many people would try to go to Bhudgaya from this town. When you travel by train in north India, you first get to this town and get a bus or auto rickshaw in order to get to Bhudgaya.

Bodhgaya est l'endroit où Bouddha atteignit l'Eveil, c'est donc actuellement un haut lieu de pélerinage bouddhiste. On peut y voir un banian descendant du banian sous lequel Bouddha méditait lorsqu'il s'éveilla. Il règne dans cette petite ville une atmosphère empreinte de sérénité mystique. Surtout en fin de journée au temple Mahabodhi, lorsque moines, pélerins et visiteurs, de religions diverses et venant du monde entier, font inlassablement le tour de cet énorme édifice, dans un esprit de méditation et au son des mantras qui résonnent loin à la ronde.
Ca reste pour moi un souvenir impérissable. A ne pas manquer si vous êtes dans le coin.
Il est bien évidemment possible de suivre des cours de yoga, de méditation et de bouddhisme. De plus les environ de la ville se prêtent à merveille pour faire des ballades à vélo.....c'est tout plat!!
