Mumbai is one crazy city, it's overcrowded, smelly and is rarely charming. The train completely sells out and as it's possible to book on the internet, I would recommend doing so. big city.. lots of things to do and to see.. but stay out of the bad guys..

if you end up in Collaba in Mumbai the true cheap and best is hotel Kishan. and if you need to make a quick buck hang around the mcdonalds each morning at like 8:30 and you can get picked up to be an extra in a bollywood movie, or just walk around the streets long enough and someone will approach you.

Beggars target tourists who have just arrived. If it's your first time in India then keep your hand in your pocket no matter how sympathetic you are. The chances are that beggars aren't collecting for themselves but for a local Mafia boss. If you want to give give small (coins or very low value notes) or give to a charity.

Si tu es à Bombay, n'hésite pas une seconde... Vas-y! Ne regarde surtout aucun guide de voyage: une jolie petite navigation, escalade sympa, tu entres dans la grotte, les yeux s'habituent pe à peu à l'obscurité et.... surprise!!!

Levé avec le soleil j'ai vu la longue approche (2 heures) de Mumbai cst. Les habitats qui longent la voie-ferrée, coincés entre les murs des arrières-bouiques et celui de l'Indian Railways. Les "maisons" font à peine 1 m de largeur, guère plus en longueur... Tout cela à l'ombre verticale et brillante d'immeubles étincelants.

So many people. When walking on the streets, in the crowd always go with the crowd traffic and not against. It can be very frustrating getting out of the crwods once you are engulfed.

Be sure to visit Chor Bazaar (the Theives market) fo a good deal. The joke is, if you buy something at Chor Bazaar today- they probably stole it from you yesterday!
