If you have to go, don't leave the base. If you have to leave the base, wear all the armor you can find. Things tend to go "BOOM" over there. Bring guns, lots of guns.

Better be quick to use those guns you brought...maybe a knife... the locals can be VERY unfriendly

Watch out for the crappy roads, as well as the bombs. The food can taste good but not so good coming out. Watch out for all the glares and pointing. A stray round might fly pass every now and then and hear for the incoming mortar rounds.

Look for the fish in the tires on Ice on the corners!

Very interesting city.....some of the locals enjoy your presence and others will try to kill you just because you are on safari. Very rich in history......didn't have alot of time to enjoy the sights. If you plan on visiting bring a weapon.......traffic is terrible! LOL

Just don't be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Locals are progressively becoming westernized, especially those in their teens, twenties and thirties. Victims of circumstance, not "bad people" as a whole. The Parade grounds, tomb of the unknown soldier and ruins of the initial bombings of major Baath Party Buildings are well worth seeing. Make sure to avoid places of congregated people and don't set patterns when driving.
