I just returned from my first trip to Israel. It was packed with lots of great experiences and surprises. However the biggest was how good the food was. First off, portion size is large. Ordering a green salad before your entree will mean a 9" bowl arrives piled high with incredibly fresh produce. In meal after meal, the food was very well prepared and tasty. I went to an Arab restaurant for lunch one day and ordered Hummus. I received a huge bowl of hummus and some amazing Pita bread to go with it. The bread here as well as everywhere else is so much better than anything I get at home. I had a variety of fish with the Bream being especially good but also the beef and lamb were very flavorful. I ordered Lamb Kebabs several times which ended up being 6 small lamb burgers cooked just perfectly.

Tel-Aviv is a spectacular city with a vibrant night life and plenty to see. Do your best to travel with locals so that you do not get stuck doing only tourist things and you will be better off for your troubles. Also, venture outside of the city center for the best restaurants and shops.
