Fukuoka, Kyushu Region, Japan
Great city. I took the ferry over from Busan, South Korea and had a great time in Fukuoka. The beaches are pretty nice and relaxed with good vendors nearby and floats, etc. available for rent. The city itself is quite nice and the bus station provides easy access to other areas.

Fukuoka is a totally great city. Most of the "cheaper" hotels are near Hakata Station and the best place to drink is by far the Happy Cock. A basic admission fee gives you all night of dancing and all you can drink. If the prices still stand the price for all you can drink on thurs is 1000 yen and the price on the weekends is 3000 yen. I have been to the Happy Cock many a time and a great time was had by all.

Fukuoka is a great long weekend trip. It can give you a taste of Japan before deciding if you want to embark on a longer journey. First of all, find a loop bus. This bus is only 100 yen (1 dollar) and it goes to all the major destinations. It also tells the stops in English, Korean and Japanese. I would stop at Canal City for shopping and food. I recommend the Hyatt's Dim Sum Buffet. It isn't really a buffet because you order off a seasonal menu, but they will keep bringing it for as long as you want. From Canal City take the skyroad to Kyusha Temple. It is a beautiful Shinto Shrine. Then, from there take a walk through the traditional market. On the other side, you can pick up the loop bus again. I also suggest trekking out to the beach area. It is not busy but a nice change from downtown.

Canal City Fukuoka's 5th floor is a place called Ramen Stadium. It's a great way to sample ramen from different parts of Japan.

Or go along the canal, to the little shops. They're perfectly clean, and you meet some great people.

You can ride buses, subway and train for cheaper transportation around Fukuoka. Lots of stores and restaurants are open late at night so there`s always something to do even if you are a night person! A lot of different types of club depending on what type of music listen to so lots and lots of things to do! =)

One of the best restaurants in Fukuoka is the Umenohana Tofu restaurant in the basement of the Acros building. They have an excellent menu, with interesting set courses. Who knew there were so many different types of tofu and so many different ways to prepare it?! And tofu ice cream!

Fukuoka.... the Las Vegas of Kyushu island. You can literally do everything here. And it has the airport (huge plus). Try some chu-hi's if you are 20+ of age.
