Travel Tips - AllWadi Musa, Jordan You will almost certainly be in Wadi Miusa to visit Petra. The town has many hotels and you can often get a very good deal for lunch as the hotels gear themselves to take advantage of the visiting tourist trade. The visiors centre has good facilities and clean toilets. If you take a horse to Petra, you still have to walk 1km. Make sure you haggle and nevere pay more than $5. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan If you are looking to take the famous photo of the glimpse of the Treasury through the gorge, do it later in the afternoon when the sun is low and the rock takes on its pinky hues. If you take the photos at midday, the rock colour will be washed out by the sun into a bright yellow and your camera won't handle the contrast. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan Fantastic archeological site. If you got time, you should stay at least 3 days and visit the less frequented sites like Little Petra or the old trail to the city. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan It is important to dress appropriately when in Jordan, especially in more rural areas like Petra. It is extremely hot but you should always keep your shoulders and knees covered. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan One of the molst beautiful site I've ever seen. Don't hesitate to go of track and climb. You could easily spend several days in the site, and come back as new items are found regularly. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan When passing Wadi Musa, be sure to look fast, as it goes by quickly (if you are just driving by). If you are the one driving, stop and take a look- this is NOT a road you want to take your eyes off of; just look at the cars all on the bottom of the ravines as proof!! Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan Valentine's Inn is quite cheap ( 15 JD for a double room with bathroom and AC, clean), organises trips to petra, wadi rumm and transport for many other jordanian destinations. provides breakfast/dinner for an acceptable 4 JD per person (food is really good). Nice patio, backpackers from all over the world, comfortable location - I can truly recommend this place. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan Both Mövenpick sell excellent bread and icecream. The Nabatean Village has nice dinners. Good tip? (0) Wadi Musa, Jordan The Cave Bar is currently closed for rennovation. Hopefully, it will open again soon. There are a couple of other good locations to a have a cold beverage while in town. The bar at the Petra Palace would be my choice. It is small, but the staff are friendly.
