Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico Everybody says Mexico City is an extremly dangerous city, but from my
experience I can tell you, that as long as you don't run around in
expensive clothes and shoes without any jewelry, noboy will do you any
harm. Actually it's the opposite: Mexicans are warm hearted people how
are very proud of their country, and especially of Mexico City, and
like to share their knowledge of it with everybody! Very important to see, besides the usual things you can read in every guide, are the different markets in different parts of the town (especially the "TEPITO" market. Also very interesting are the little Taco Bars in the streets. Don't think about what to eat. Just eat and then ask! Good tip? (+4) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico buldog cafe
the coolest place in town- young people, live rock bands. expensive cover (27us$)- but cool drinks Good tip? (+1) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico Save time for museum hopping. There are more museums in Mexico City that you could possibly count. We found gallery after gallery just walking down the street. Admission was as little as a dollar. Good tip? (+1) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico Best place to listen to the Mariachi bands is in the plaza Garibaldi, make sure you go there with local, as it is also a high crime area. Another local place is floating garden of Xochimilco, a must see, again go with locals. Good tip? (+1) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico If you are heading to the Palenque ruins, it's definately worth spending at least two nights in El Panchan... a jungle community with incredible atmosphere just outside the main town. We stayed 2 nights in the main town and 2 in El Panchan.. the town was dissapointing at best, but Panchan was awesome! Good tip? (+1) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico If you are a woman traveling to Mexico be prepared to endure attention from men. Remember that you will be functioning in a "machismo" culture. Have a few choice phrases prepared in Spanish to use on the street. Always let folks know where you are traveling within the country side. Good tip? (+1) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico For me this is one of the worst problems of Mexico City. But hey, there's always a solution. Avoid cabs and buses and use the subways instead. You will save a looot of time. Good tip? (+1) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico bruisende stad! zeker naar Mexico reizen zodat je er tijdens Allerheiligen bent!! Good tip? (0) Mexico City, Mexico City & Surrounds, Mexico It is the centre of Mexico. The top in art, culture, economy, and everything you can imagine lives here. Unfortunately, pollution and public safety problems undermine it's awesome touristic potential. Good tip?
