Palenque was also one of our favorite places! It was so hot when we went - but we brought umbrellas with us and they were so usefull! Don't forget water!

the most gorgeous maya ruins i've seen yet! the size of these pyramids is astounding! they're located in the mountains, so the scenery views are amazing. u can also climb EVERY pyramid ... unlike chichen itza where u can only climb the main one.

You need to stay a nigth in El Panchan... it is directly before you enter the pyramides of Palenque, in the middle of the rain forest.

Arribem ven d'hora pel mati a la ciutat de Palenque, després de 6 hores de autocar nocturn amb controls militars inclosos. Busquem allotjament al Panchán, una zona de cabanes a 5km de la city a la carretera de las ruïnes.
Per aprofitar el dia, pel mati fem ruïnes i per la tarda una remullada a Agua azul i Misol-Ha, l'endemà cap a St. Cristóbal de Las Casas falta gent.
Les ruïnes de Palenque són impressionants, estan situades en mig de la selva. Mentre passeges mirant les piràmides sents els micos a 1km en dins la selva fent uns crits esgarrifosos.
De totes les piràmides només hi ha un 5% excavat i la resta encara està sota la selva.

Maya Bell Camp Site is the best in Palenque. The most expensive - but the pool is great to cool off because it gets soooooo hot. If you need a tattoo - sonya has a studio at one of the campsites. She does traditinonal tattoos. I got one. Great work.

Beware of the tourists if you go and visit the temples!!! go in the morning to avoid them...and even then, always better to vistit these kind of eyecatchers in the low-season!

If you have bad eyes, bring your binoculars! to see the monkeys swinging around in the tree-tops... beautiful! the jungle-life!!!!

The Aztec ruins you find there were the ones I liked the most when I was in Mexico. You walk up a small path through the forest and get to the ruins after an hour or so, it's really worth it!! There's something mystic around this place!!
