very nice place, very cosy and peaceful. ancient city on the gulf of the mexico famous to be the house of pirates! the main square it's amazing in the night. you can find everything in one of the markets into town.

Campeche's old town is like a little Vienna without water: just beautiful, a must! But you've also to go out of the old town: visit the big market, a very lively, smelly, interesting place.

When you want to eat swordfish with black bean sauce, which is a local specialty, go to the high quality restaurants. The black bean sauce covers the looks and smell of the fish and they may serve spoiled fish in cheaper restaurants. If you do want to gamble, check for the smell of amonia before putting a piece in your mouth.....
