small, but pretty ruins. there's not too much to see ruin-wise compared to other ruins in the area, but they are located on top of a cliff overlooking the caribbean sea, so that makes up for it. the view is awesome. there's also a nice beach there too.

Tulum, well, the ruins are not as charming as Chichen Itzá or Uxmal, but it's setting, by the seashore in the Caribbean, makes this place unique. It is a MUST SEE

Probably the most beautiful beach in the world. If you can, rent a beach hut just south of the ruins. Be aware that its a long way to town and you'll probably need to get taxis everywhere. There's not that much to do in Tulum, but Cenotes diving is highly recommended. Diving in crystal clear freshwater caves is an experience not to be missed. I used CDC (Cenotes Dive Center) and they were excellent; good equipment, good English speakers.

When descending the temples, don't let the heights throw you: Descend like any normal set of stairs. If you don't typically fall over, you won't here either.
Find a private guide and see if he/she will take you to some of the "undiscovered" or rather "uncovered" ruins. These can be more interesting as one can see how the jungle has swallowed the ancient cities.
