Puerto Vallarta, Central Pacific Coast, Mexico an ultimate holliday resort! But in a Mexican setting! makes a change from the usual Spanish resorts! Good tip? (0) Cancun, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico Hotel Margarita, downtown Cancun, has website and rates better when booking online, rather than calling. About 50-60 us dollars. Great location for local bars, nightlife, dining and bus station, to get cheaply to and from the airport. Good tip? (0) Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca State, Mexico This is one of the nicest places for a beach vacation if you don't like crowds. I was there in August, which is very nice but it can rain occasionally (or a lot) from June-September. If you are a surfer, you have to know this place: huge waves. All the places on the beach serve good food any time of the day. Good tip? (0) Zihuatanejo, Central Pacific Coast, Mexico I recommend 100% the Hotel named Catalina Beach Resort, is a charming, small hotel, nestled in a setting of lush tropical gardens on a hill overlooking magnificent La Ropa Beach, one of the finest beaches in Mexico, it's great, the costs are fare and the service is very good, Pets are Allowed. Good tip? (0) Palenque, Tabasco & Chiapas, Mexico extremly hot weather! but the of the best piramids you can see in Mexico. The nature is incredible! there is a special place to eat called "Panchan" its cheap an the food uts not so bad. Also you can camp there. Cheap! Good tip? (0) Cancun, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico Stay at the oasis hotel. I atmosphere is awesome inside and out...right on the beach Good tip? (0) Senor, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico Senor is tiny village, but there's a small community-based tour operator called Xyaat there, who can organize tours to a close-by lagoon, and do a community-culture tour, where you get to see and learn local arts, handicrafts etc. People are wonderful - ask for Marcos, Santos and Julia - the three of them run the travel agency. As far as I know, the agency has now a cooperation with other small communities in the surroundings (among others, you can go to a bat cave and crawl into a tiny cave, watching snakes eat the bats as they come out). their office is close to the ruins of Tulum. When I've been there, no accommodation was possible in the village itself, but you can stay in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, about half an hour drive from there. Good tip? (0) Isla Mujeres, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico cheap accomodation can be found. people have rooms in their own houses to rent for $15 and up, clean and with running water. Good tip? (0) Cozumel, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico Cozumel offers some of the world's best scuba diving for a reasonable price.
Lodging - Depending on your idea of travel, you can find a hotel to fit your plans. I have stayed at the Reef Club, Hacienda San Miguel, and Casa Del Mar. The Reef Club is an all-inclusive resort, which has its advantages. Just be careful, they will try to get you to buy into a timeshare plan. Casa Del Mar is a very simple hotel. It is my top spot to stay as a diver - it is simply a place to rest at night before I hit the boat again. Hacienda San Miguel is near downtown. It is a cozy little place that is quiet and relaxed.
Activities - SCUBA diving. I have used Del Mar Aquatics and Sand Dollar Sports. Del Mar is located across the street from Casa Del Mar (hotel). Typically has smaller groups. Sand Dollar has top of the line gear but can be crowded.
Food - My favorite place to eat is Ernesto's Fajita Factory. Tons of good food for little cash. Try the Triple - steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas. Plus the beer is cold. Good tip? (0) Guadalajara, Central Pacific Coast, Mexico Hotel La Rotonda is a very pleasant place to stay in Guadalajara. It´s near to the main square, quiet and not very expensive. Good tip? (0) |
