Swakopmund is a true oasis. Let's face it, by the time you get here you probably haven't had a shower in a while, so treat yourself to a movie, some shopping, and a few drinks in the nightclub but don't forget to get out of town and do some very cool extreme style stuff. In my opinion this is the place if you're ever gonna skydive - absolutely stunning. Save some $$$ for Swakopmund.

stay at the 'alternative space' right on the edge of the dunes, only a few rooms but really laid back and owners are ex-naturists - the pictures on the walls are not for children. GREAT place

treat yourself to the Swakopmund special: crayfish (that's lobster in American) and a bottle of iced Paarl Riesling.. excellent.

swakopmund is your literal playground: i had a blast skydiving (highly recommended ;) , the contrast desert-ocean so beautifully seen), quad riding plus sandboarding.

Go to Dune 7 near Walvisbay and climb to the top. Good exercise and lots of fun.

One of the most precious moments can be had Skydiving from 18 000 feet in Swakopmund and see the Atlantic Ocean on the one site and the dessert on the other. Magic.

There is an amazing little Italian restaurant in Swakopmund, at the main street, nearby Swakop Lodge. Try the spaghetti with tomatoes, union, spinach and peppers; the best!

Beautiful little city. Go during OKTOBERFEST and if you are looking for a cheap stay....stay in one of the chalets near the beach.
