Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands Must visits: Red Light District, Heineken Brewery (taste the difference of real fresh brewed Heineken), Anne Frank Museum.... Must do: canal boat ride Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands For our first trip to Amsterdam, we stayed at the Jolly Hotel Carlton in the center of everything in Rembrandt Square. The hotel was nice enough and the location was perfect. The coffee shop experience is an a must! And so is the Red Light District at night. We were amazed by how beautiful and clean the city was. It was not at all Seedy as we had expected. We look forward to a return trip! Don't forget to eat "Walk to Wok" a fast food chinese take out! Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands Try the magic mushrooms, you can float round the city for hours. When you have come back down to earth, head to the banana bar. Make sure you are there with good friends! Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands let's see, a good tip for amsterdam would be to go a little outside the city center because it's there that you will find lovely vintage shops and obscure boutique's :) Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands Go to the Pijp area to taste some Surinamese food. Surinam used to be a Dutch colony in South America. Thet brought in slaves from Africa, India, China and Indonesia. Surinamese cuisine has blended all these different tastes into one. It's unique in the world, and very cheap for Dutch standards! Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands The Taco Shop, about 2 miles outside of the city centre, is worth the walk. Get your bread and croissants at a bakery, get your cookies and donuts at a croissanterie. Drink the red wine instead of the white, and visit the museums early. Skip the Zoo and go across the street to the WWII Resistance Museum. Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands There is a beautiful park in the city that is a really nice spot to relax. Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands The real way to see this city, just like any place, is to just get lost in it. Always be aware of your surroundings to avoid becoming a target (best thing is to keep the map well out of sight), and enjoy the surroundings that you will suddenly become a part of. You'll be amazed when you see just how great things are once you stop worrying about time tables and destinations. Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands go see a sex show.......................... Good tip? (0) Amsterdam, Amsterdam & Noord Holland, Netherlands The best Dutch food is Indonesian food. Splash out on a Rijsttafel, downed with a few beers (Bintang is authentic, but any lager will do).
My favourite place is Djago (on the Europa plein at the edge of town near the RAI), but many are good, including Kantjil Tijger and Tempoe Doeloe. Just watch out for the mixed-up Chinese-Indisch imitations. Good tip? (0) |
